Enjoy your Chinese lessons this Summer So it's summer time, you want to be outdoor, a refreshing drink in hand, and just breath in the freshly cut grass scent, right? Sure, you also want to keep up with your Chinese study, but that is no reason to compromise all the summer enjoyment, so here are a few tips to keep up with your Chinese this summer. 1. Plan ahead We know some of you are loving the convenience to just login and pick a teacher that is available to start learning Chinese straight away, but booking lessons ahead doesn't require much planning with ChineseTeachers.com: advance booking can be made just 24 hours ahead. It is definitely worth planning a little, so you get to enjoy the summer picnics with your loved ones. 2. Location, Location, Location To have a good Chinese lesson has a lot to do with the internet connection quality, so think about where you can have the most stable connection. If you are only going to have 20-minute lesson, better be sure these 20 minutes are spent on learning, and not on re-connecting. Try to have lessons from locations you know will have stable internet, ideally using fixed IP. If you are travelling, make sure to run the Connection Check before the lesson to make sure everything is in order. During the planned lesson time, keep the internet usage as simple as possible by avoiding public and shared WiFi and downloading videos at the same time. 3. Every minutes counts One thing that constantly impresses us is the dedication and commitment you've shown us, we are talking about hours of lessons, weeks after weeks for some of you. There is no doubt the amount of progress you can achieve with long lessons, however, to keep up the progress while enjoying the summer breaks, simply plan for more but shorter lessons. This way, you get to maintain your current level, and mixed it up with learning something new everyday, now that doesn't sound too much like a compromise, does it? 4. Focus on Quality, not Quantity We know there are many good teachers for you to learn from on ChineseTeachers.com, and many of you have really took advantage of this amazing pool of teachers to heart, and use your time with different teachers to focus on different parts of your Chinese study. To lighten up the load of off-line study, otherwise known as "Homework", try to focus on one or two study areas, and choose the 1 or 2 teachers that you feel are most effective in these areas to learn with. Remember, when time is limited, focus on quality, not quantity. On that note, let's take a look at another one of our top-quality teacher. Star Teacher of the Month: July 2011 Teacher's name: Hweeling Category: Teacher Reason to be Teacher of the Month: Hweeling is the kind of teacher that really represent what summer time is all about. She is light, happy and her lessons ooze the breeze of fresh "Chinese-learning" air. Hweeling is a professionally-trained Chinese teacher who has the motivation and stamina to strive for higher level of Chinese teaching. She has been teaching on ChineseTeachers.com for almost 2 years now, and we have witnessed her steady progress in becoming a great teacher, while never losing even a gram of enthusiasm and passion she brought to her first lesson! Hweeling is one of our most hard-working teacher, and takes "customization" to a whole new level. Not only her lessons are always fun and relevant, she is attentive to her students even in her well-thought after-lesson homework suggestions, pre-lesson study materials, and she never let any questions from her students left unanswered. Her students love her, we love her, and we are sure you will too! Shhh, what you might not know: Some of our team members met Hweeling in one of the Chinese Education conference they attended in early 2009. She made a very good impression on the spot, and was encouraged to apply to be one of our teachers right then... and she turned out to be the best "take-away" from attending that conference.
