It's Celebration Time x 2 It's the beginning of a new year, and January is not only the time where most people will be making their new year resolutions, it's also the month where millions of people around the world will be celebrating Chinese New Year, which will start on the 22nd of January 2012, the Chinese New Year's Eve. The celebration will continue all the way until the end of the month, this is the perfect month to say "Happy New Year | 新年快乐 | 新年快樂 | xīnnián kuàilè" twice and be twice as joyful! Last month, many of you joined us and played "Santa" (we hope your families and friends enjoyed the presents:), but this month, we want to make it all about you. Traditionally, the giving of "red bag" 红包 | hóngbāo (with money inside) during the Chinese New Year is a symbol of prosperity and spreading the good luck, so here is what we are going to do: From January 22nd until January 31st, we will be giving out red bags in one of the following ways: 1. All students who spend a minimum of 2 hours in lesson time during this period will receive $10 credits. 2. Any credits purchased during January 2012 will be accumulated, 5% of your total top up amount will be added to your account. Note: 1. Credits will be added on 10 February 2012 and valid until 31 March 2012. 2. Lessons time used within 50-hours packages are not included in this offer. 3. Bonus credits does not apply to the 50-hours package. New Year Resolution: Get Better in Chinese! Every year, people make new year resolution that are not meant to stick, or are too quickly forgotten by the time Easter comes around. But if "Get Better in Chinese" in one of your resolutions this year, well here are some tips to help you stick to your resolution this year! 1. Make it fun: Change the focus of improvement area, learn with a new textbook, add some fun topics into your study, the key is to keep it fresh and never forget to have fun in the process! 2. Get it right: Effective learning needs the right teacher first, and it's easier said than done, we know. So take your time, try different teachers, and don't settle until you find the right one. Trust us, the right teacher is worth the extra effort. 3. Gentle reminder goes a long way: Don't be scared by commitment. Book lessons ahead doesn't mean you will lose your freedom to have a life. With our booking system, it's more like a "save the date", a gentle reminder to yourself. But if you need to change the time, cancel the lesson at the last minute, it's ok, our teachers are very understanding, and you won't get any penalty charge for the cancellation. 4. Location, Location, Location: While we provide the tools which enable maximum flexibility for you to learn Chinese at your convenience, the learning environment you choose to have your lessons will have some impact to the lesson quality. So choose your study location wisely whenever you can, with a quiet background and a reliable internet quality, you will then have a much smoother lesson experience, and making the whole process much more enjoyable and effective.
