Having Trouble? Check our Instructions and Troubleshooting

During the sound check, if your voice does not play back or well enough, please check the recording and playback levels are high enough on your computer and that "mute" is off (see bottom of the page if you are unsure how to check) and follow the below 3 steps.

If you see the orange "!" icon, right-click on it and choose “Settings…”.

Note: if your Mac pad or mouse does not have a right-click, simply press the Control (Ctrl) button and click.

Allow access to your microphone
(we only access it during a lesson, never outside a lesson).

Enable echo reduction for improved sound quality.

Note: You may need to increase the "Record Volume" if your teacher cannot hear you well, or decrease the "Record Volume" if you can hear a strong echo during your lesson.

How to check the recording and playback levels are high enough on your computer?

On Windows XP: Go to "start", "control panel", "sounds and audio devices". Click "volume" and adjust the volume. Click the "audio" tab to configure your "sound playback" and "sound recording". Adjust the volume accordingly.

On Windows VISTA: From the 'Start' menu, click on your 'Control Panel'. Then type "sounds" to be able to select "Adjust system volume" (check our bigger screenshot). You will be able to configure your "sound playback" and "sound recording" volume level from the level  'level' tab.
